I hesitated for a moment as my fingers hovered over the keyboard.
Am I turning into a ‘Negative Nellie’? Do I want to kick off this new year with a pessimistic perspective on this color or Pantone’s view?
No, of course not! When I read their reasoning for choosing this color - “Peach Fuzz captures our desire to nurture ourselves and others. It’s a velvety gentle peach tone whose all-embracing spirit enriches mind, body, and soul.” - I nodded and thought, ‘nice’.
But …
Have you looked at the color? Have you looked at a peach?
I’m not claiming to know better than the Color Gods at Pantone, yet this is the second time in a few years I’ve challenged their choice. Their choice for 2021 was Ultimate Grey & Illuminating where again the idea and words they associated with the colors was nothing short of awesome sauce. Still, I thought we could do better with Razzle Dazzle!
So here I go again…MY color of the year is Rejuvenate.
Cheers to Sherwin Williams the creator of this exquisite color. It’s full of life, promise, self-nurturing, and all that enriches the body and soul!
Rejuvenate isn’t a color I discovered in searching out a replacement for Pantone’s 2024 Color of the Year. Nope, I happen to be quite familiar with it! Rejuvenate is the springboard color I chose for the Little House’s Guest Bedroom. Here’s a sneak peek at the mood board for that room.
Fun, full of energy, and fresh!
Rejuvenate is in the ‘orange’ family. The color psychology of orange is optimistic and uplifting.
The color radiates liveliness and joyfulness which is why it pairs so beautifully with so many different colors and hues.
There is an undeniable warmth in Rejuvenate that makes it a perfect complement to neutral spaces.
Rejuvenate is defined as ‘to make fresh and new again’, ‘to restore to youthful vigor’. What a better way to begin a new year than to usher it in with a color defining itself this way.
‘We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves: otherwise, we harden.’
~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
As we enter 2024, it is my hope, my dream to see all of us look deep inside ourselves, maybe even our own spaces, and see what needs to be rejuvenated.
2024 – the year to make it new, make it fresh, restore ourselves.
Cheers!
